CS2 Premier Rating and Rank Distribution Explained
How does CS2 Premier rating work, what do the colours mean, and what rating is above average? A clear guide to the CS2 ranked system.

Counter-Strike 2 replaced the old skill groups with a single number in Premier mode: your CS Rating. It is easier to compare than the old system, but the colour tiers and where you stand can be confusing at first. Here is what your rating really means.
How CS2 Premier rating works
You earn your first rating after ten placement wins, then it moves up or down after every match based on the result and how the game expected you to perform. Beating a stronger lobby gains more, and losing to a weaker one costs more.
Premier rating colour tiers
| Rating band | Colour | Roughly means |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 4,999 | Grey | New and beginner players |
| 5,000 to 9,999 | Light blue | Learning the fundamentals |
| 10,000 to 14,999 | Blue | Solid intermediate players |
| 15,000 to 19,999 | Purple | Above average, strong mechanics |
| 20,000 to 24,999 | Pink | Very good, top skill bracket |
| 25,000 to 29,999 | Red | Elite players |
| 30,000 plus | Gold | The very best in the region |
What rating is above average?
The player base is heaviest in the grey and blue bands, so most people sit below 15,000. Reaching the purple band around 15,000 already puts you comfortably above the average player, and anything in pink or above is a genuinely high level.
